Mactan Shrine: Friends on the road

June 16, 2014

This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine.

♦ Lapu-Lapu Monument ♦

I would never forget this place,
I treasured it more than something else,
I was there…
Laughing with my charming friends,
I was there…
Sharing my phenomenal secrets,
I was there…
Teasing to the magnificent level,
I was there…
Creating superb memories.
Time can be countable or uncountable for someone else but for a person like me, I wouldn’t count the days when I was with my charming college friends. Somehow, I rather count the days without seeing them. We have been together for more than four years and this place is one of our favorite place to unwind. I would treasure those days when we laughed, talked, teased and ate together and had fun in this area.
Time is essential, bow. Oh! Dear friend!!.

Well, I am mentioning about this place…
Fabulous!! It’s a famous shrine in Mactan Island.
Here we go…
Mactan Shrine is one of the famous historical place in Cebu, Philippines located in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City. The shrine was erected in honor of our Mactan Hero Lapu-Lapu. He was a native leader who defeated Ferdinand Magellan (Portuguese explorer) and other Spanish soldiers in the year 1521 Battle of Mactan Battle of Mactan. Every month of April we celebrate “Kadaugan sa Mactan” It’s a sort of festival and re-enacted  to commemorate the victory of Opanganon during Spanish battle and the historical event happened on those days.
